Polymers
Naturally occuring or synthetic compounds consisting of large molecules made up of a linked series of repeated simple monomers. They are mostly petro-chemical materials, they are synthesized of oil and have carbon atoms as the backbone of linked molecules.
Polymers are also known as resins or plastics. Polymers or thermoplastics are often used interchangably. However, thermoplastics are resins that can be softened and rehardened when heatened and cooled (so they are recycable:) while thermosets are polymers that require heat, uv light or a catalyst to cross-link and harden, and decompose rather than melt when heated.
Polycarbonates: optical clarity
Elastomers: elasticity, rubber-like feel
Vynils: durability
Olefins: Polypropylene: proccesibility
Polyethylene
